I. Activating Tire Pressure Sensors

1. Activation is the direct method to determine sensor functionality. Before activation, select the correct vehicle model year menu based on your vehicle’s specifications. During activation, ensure the tire pressure tool is vertically aligned and firmly pressed against the tire surface, with the sensor positioned within the green zone for optimal results.

2. If sensors remain unactivated despite optimal positioning, consider sensor damage or incorrect menu selection. Re-select the menu for activation. When unsure of the correct menu, use software to look up the vehicle’s OE number or verify the original sensor’s OE number. Then, select the corresponding menu based on the OE number for activation.

3. During aftermarket maintenance, customers frequently report sensor activation failures. Many cases stem from incorrect activation positioning, making activation impossible or extremely difficult.
II. Programming Techniques for Tire Pressure Sensors

1. The tire pressure sensor programming function is exclusively compatible with LAUNCH sensors.
This feature cannot be used with OEM or other brands.

2. When replacing LAUNCH sensors, it is recommended to program the sensor first, then install it onto the tire.

3. When programming a tire pressure sensor not yet mounted on a tire, position the sensor directly in front of the device. If the sensor is already mounted on the tire, hold the device vertically against the tire (at the sensor activation point) during programming. If the sensor is not detected during programming, deflate the tire to 0 kPa before attempting programming again.

III. Tire Pressure Menu Selection Guide

Menu Selection:

1. Vehicle Series → Model → Model Year.

2. If only one model year menu exists and it includes the original vehicle’s year, select it directly.

3. If multiple overlapping model year menus appear, locate the correct menu using the original equipment (OE) sensor number or query the TPMS sensor OE number via VIN (for select models).

4. When selecting the model year menu, always verify the sensor OE number. As shown below, sensor information locations vary by brand.
