LAUNCH X431 Security Gateway (SGW) software purchase policy has been updated in 2025: European and American users can purchase the SGW software as part of a bundle; non-European and non-American users can purchase the SGW software separately. This article uses the FCA SGW as an example to explain how to purchase, register, and activate the FCA SGW software.
NOTE: Starting in 2025, only X431 users in non-European/non-American regions (US/Canada/Mexico) can purchase the FCA/ Renault/ VAG Security Gateway (SGW) license separately. European and American users can only obtain the SGW license via a software package. Users interested in obtaining Renault and VAG SGW licenses can also refer to the FCA SGW purchase and activation instructions in this article.
Part 1: Purchase FCA SGW Software

Which SGW license should X431 users in different regions purchase?
1. For European users:
Purchase an SGW function license (Europe only)

The differences between the two SGW Function Licenses for the European region and the Non-European region are as follows:
For users outside Europe (without Mercedes 1-year license), the price is $899:

Part 2: Register for FCA SGW license
To begin the activation process, complete your registration as follows:
– Visit [launcheurope.de] and click Register.
– Alternatively, on your Launch X431 diagnostic tool, navigate:
More > Licenses > Use Software Card > SGW User Authentication > Register.
– Fill in the registration form. Your details will be reviewed individually. You may proceed with activation while waiting for review.
For successful verification:
– Take a photo of your ID together with your diagnostic device.
– Upload this image.
– Avoid A4-sized scans, as excessive background can make the ID unreadable.

Part 3: Activate FCA SGW License
Due to recent system updates, activation methods vary based on your license key:
Case 1: License keys starting with FCA, MESGW, SGWP, POAL, or POAT
– On your Launch X431 diagnostic app’s home screen, go to:
More > Licenses > Use Software Card > SGW User Authentication and log in.
– In the menu, select Security Gateway Activation Form, fill it out, and submit.
– Check your request status under Status Inquiry.
Case 2: Other License Keys
– Go to More > Licenses > Use Software Card.
– Enter your license key directly and tap Confirm.
– If an error message about SGW User Authentication appears, your account may not be verified, or there was a verification issue. You will receive an email notification in such cases.
Now that activation is complete, you can unlock the FCA SGW during diagnosis.
